PAFCA / ADF Transition

PAFCA Brothers and Sisters,

Recently, I was given the honor of being chosen to lead the Airline Dispatchers Federation (ADF) as its president, a role I will assume on 01 January 2026. I’m humbled and I look forward to continuing to serve the dispatch and operations management professions in both the industry and government spaces. I’d like to thank Ryan Makings for his work as president, stepping into the role at a very difficult time after having lost our dear friend and colleague, Jared Micou. Ryan has done an excellent job moving the organization in the direction that Jared envisioned, he deserves our gratitude.

PAFCA-DAL bylaws prevent me from serving in both the PAFCA-DAL vice president and on the ADF board simultaneously. I will depart the board on 01 January, and the new VP will assume the position following a special election, the goal being to have the new VP begin on 01 December allowing a month to assist them in the transition and settle into the role.

Over the last three and a half years, I’ve had the opportunity to listen to this group and its varying voices and views. For the most part, those conversations have been productive, meaningful and have led to improvements in our QOL and WQOL to varying degrees. I have also heard the frustrations of those that feel they aren’t represented by the board based on their time in office. This is the time to fix that. If this sounds like a challenge? It is. This is your opportunity to serve the membership into the future and chart the course you want to see us take. I would encourage you to talk to me or another board member before you agree to run and I will give you my raw, unvarnished observations on what the role is and what you can expect. This is your chance to put your ideas into motion, I encourage you to take it.

It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve this Membership. I appreciate the trust you’ve placed in me even when we’ve disagreed. I will continue to serve PAFCA at the International as the Government Affairs liaison coordinating efforts across the PAFCA represented carriers, a task I enthusiastically embrace and look forward to as we work to ensure our profession remains adequately and appropriately represented in Washington D.C. Thank you to each one of you for your professionalism and dedication to our profession.

Fraternally,

-Jim
